In Bishkek, the memory of Hungarian Turkologist István Mandok will be immortalized

The ceremony for the installation of a memorial plaque in honor of István Congur Mandoki, the Hungarian Turkologist and linguist, will take place on March 19 at 10:00 AM. This information was provided by the press service of the Hungarian Embassy in Kyrgyzstan.

The plaque will be located in the building of the National Innovative Technological School-Lyceum No. 5, named after Aydarkan Moldokulov, where the scholar spent time during his research in Kyrgyzstan.

The message notes that István Congur Mandoki is an outstanding figure in the field of Turkology and Kipchak studies. His achievements in science and his contribution to the development of relations between Hungary and Central Asia are truly invaluable. The scholar dedicated most of his life to travels and expeditions, studying the history and culture of both Hungarians and Turkic peoples. In 2024, in honor of the 80th anniversary of his birth, the Hungarian Embassy plans to present a book about Mandoki in Bishkek titled "Kоңурдун коңгуроосу".

The memorial plaque-relief was created by the renowned Kyrgyz sculptor Tamila Mamatova, who is famous for her monuments to outstanding historical and cultural figures, including the monument "Aykol Manas" and the bust of Chingiz Aitmatov.
