With the arrival of spring, Bishkek and Osh are witnessing an increase in injuries related to the use of electric scooters and mopeds. This was reported on the air of "Birinchi Radio" by orthopedic traumatologist, doctor of CSM No. 6, Adakham Makhmadiev.

According to him, over the past five years, the number of cases reported has been steadily increasing. The main factors contributing to this include high speed, lack of protective gear, and disregard for safety rules. "Both adults and children, as well as elderly people, are becoming victims of injuries. Often, scooter users do not wear helmets and do not protect their knees and elbows. Sometimes, after an accident, they do not even stop to help the injured," the doctor noted.

Makhmadiev also added that many of the injured do not realize the seriousness of their injuries and do not seek medical help immediately. This can lead to a deterioration in health several hours later or even the next day.

Most Common Injuries

According to the doctor, the most frequently encountered injuries include:

In small children, such injuries can be particularly dangerous as they may damage the growth plates of bones. In people over 50, the risk of fractures significantly increases due to osteoporosis, making bones more fragile, and even a minor fall can have serious consequences.

Injuries caused by scooters represent not only a medical issue but also a socio-economic problem: treatment requires time and resources, and the injured may temporarily or permanently lose their ability to work. Makhmadiev emphasizes the importance of developing infrastructure and strengthening control over compliance with safety rules.
