At the briefing, Nurgul Ibraeva, head of the primary healthcare department of the Ministry of Health, shared alarming statistics about the rise of mental disorders in the country. According to the electronic health center, as of early 2025, over 50,000 patients have been registered. On average, each year, a diagnosis is made for 3,000 to 4,500 people for the first time, indicating an annual increase of 10-11%.

Ibraeva noted that by analyzing data over the past 10 years, she found that the rise in these cases began in 2021.

According to the representative of the Ministry of Health, this trend is observed not only in Kyrgyzstan but also worldwide.
She emphasized: "The World Health Organization has identified this as a global problem. Therefore, the Ministry of Health is actively addressing mental health issues and the development of psychiatric services." Ibraeva reminded that mental disorders are included in the group of major non-communicable diseases, alongside conditions such as diabetes, cardiovascular diseases, and cancer, as well as chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
