Today, March 17, at a meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Minister of Science, Higher Education and Innovations Bekbosun Borubashev announced plans to construct a new campus for the Kyrgyz-Russian Slavic University named after Boris Yeltsin on the outskirts of Bishkek.

According to Borubashev, an agreement to establish the new educational institution was reached in October 2023 during the visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Bishkek.

The Cabinet of Ministers allocated 30 hectares of land in the village of Baytik for the implementation of this project. The Kyrgyz side is responsible for resolving issues related to land rights and connecting engineering systems, while the Russian side will handle the construction of the campus and necessary infrastructure.

The construction will take place in three phases: the first phase is scheduled for 2026–2028, the second for 2028–2030, and the third for 2030–2032.

Currently, the project is in the ratification stage in the State Duma.
