Many people risk being left without their usual shopping place
Residents of Bishkek have made a request not to relocate the Osh market outside the city. They reached out to the editorial office, expressing their concerns about this issue.
“How will we get to the new location? Every day, tens of thousands of city residents shop at this market. Here, you can find fresh vegetables and fruits, meat, pastries, clothing, and even electronics. It is conveniently located in the city center, and it is easy to reach from any point. If the market is moved outside the city, it will not only affect financial expenses but also create difficulties for pensioners and people with disabilities,” local residents question.
The new Osh market is being built near the village of Dostuk, on the way to Manas Airport. Authorities plan to start relocating the trading area in August.
The Bishkek city administration previously noted that the main reasons for relocating the market are traffic congestion issues, as well as the ecological and criminal situation in the area.
