The Main Department of Urban Planning and Architecture in Bishkek commented on rumors circulating on social media regarding the construction of a four-story residential building near the cemetery in the village of Orto-Sai, located in the October district.

The ministry stated that the information about the location of the facility being 30 meters from the cemetery is false.

According to the department's data, the permits for construction were issued based on official archival materials and certificates from government bodies. In particular, a certificate from the local ayil okmotu, dated 2018, indicates that the cemetery is closed.

Based on this document and after completing all necessary procedures, permission was granted for construction work. The construction of the four-story building on Imanalieva Street began in 2024.

The Ministry of Construction also reminded that the sanitary protection zone for closed cemeteries should be at least 50 meters.

According to the results of topographic measurements, the distance between the building under construction and the cemetery is approximately 60-70 meters, which complies with the established norms.

The agency noted that the decision regarding the status of the cemetery—whether to close it or continue its use—falls under the jurisdiction of local self-government bodies.

The ministry emphasized that all permits were issued in accordance with current legislation and based on official documents that were in effect at the time of their issuance.
