The UN humanitarian plan for 2026, which has been presented, provides for the allocation of $23 billion to assist 87 million people worldwide.

About 2,000 humanitarian organizations are involved in implementing this large-scale campaign, more than 60% of which are local partners of the UN.

According to Tom Fletcher, the emergency relief coordinator, in January of this year, over 7 million people have already received assistance through 17 operations conducted by the UN, including nearly 2 million in Sudan. If this level of assistance can be maintained monthly, the goal of supporting 87 million people will be achieved within the year.

So far, $5 billion has been allocated for the implementation of this plan, and with commitments, the amount reaches $8.7 billion, which is more than a third of the required funding. Major donors to the program include the USA, the European Commission, Sweden, Germany, Switzerland, the UK, Canada, Japan, Norway, Denmark, the UAE, Belgium, and Qatar.

However, funding remains low — the deficit exceeds $14 billion.
Fletcher noted that military conflicts in the Middle East cost about $1 billion a day, and even a small fraction of these costs could save millions of lives.

He also emphasized that the humanitarian system is facing serious challenges: humanitarian workers are increasingly becoming targets for attacks. “The situation for humanitarian activities is extremely difficult right now. We are overwhelmed, facing constant threats, and experiencing a lack of resources, but we will not abandon our principles and mission. We cannot turn our backs on those who rely on us,” he stated.
