At a meeting of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Dastan Jumabekov raised the issue of speed limits for electric scooters. He expressed the opinion that with the arrival of warm weather, the number of scooters on the streets will increase, which could lead to dangerous situations, especially for pedestrians, including children.

The head of the Main Department for Road Safety, Azenbek Kozukeev, explained that all means of individual mobility must be equipped with stop signals, and the maximum speed for them is 25 km/h.

However, Jumabekov insists that such a speed is too high and proposes to set a limit at the level of 15-20 km/h.

He also suggested mandatory changes to the software of companies providing electric scooters for rent, to limit speed in order to protect citizens.
