It became known who is filling the giant quarry in the 12th microdistrict of Bishkek.
The giant quarry located in the 12th microdistrict is managed by the Presidential Administration, as reported by representatives of the Bishkek city hall.
Currently, the area is fenced off from the main road, and local residents report that hundreds of trucks deliver soil daily to fill the quarry.
According to unconfirmed information, there are plans to construct multi-story residential buildings in this area. The residents of Kyrgyzstan express concerns about the safety of future housing, considering the changes in soil composition and the proximity of the hills. However, no official comments regarding the reasons for the ongoing construction work have been provided by either the city hall or the Administration.
The quarry is located between the 12th microdistrict and the village of Kok-Zhar. Its development began in 1968 to meet the construction needs of Bishkek (then Frunze) and the Chuy region. For many years, sand, sand mixtures, gravel have been extracted here, and concrete and reinforced concrete products have been manufactured.
In October 2023, a land plot of over 60 hectares, the "Kum-Shagyl" plant, and adjacent facilities were transferred from private ownership to state ownership.
