In Kyrgyzstan, the availability of medicines in hospitals remains stable, as reported by the Deputy Director of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia," Samarkbek Bolotbekov.

He noted that in accordance with the order of the Ministry of Health No. 1, which came into effect on January 1, 2026, the state enterprise centrally purchases 191 types of medicines.

Medical institutions have the opportunity to independently acquire drugs not included in this list.
“Despite the fact that requests for medications arrived with a slight delay, we are ensuring timely purchases. For the first quarter of 2026, hospitals requested 106 types of medicines, contracts have already been signed for 90 of them, and deliveries are underway,” Bolotbekov added.

Additionally, he emphasized that the procurement system has been changed. “We have collected requests for needs until the end of the year, and we are currently conducting monitoring. We plan to sign long-term contracts with manufacturers and distributors to avoid supply disruptions,” the deputy director noted.

Previously, to prevent a shortage of medications at the beginning of 2026 and considering the limitations of the state enterprise "Kyrgyzpharmacia" in full provision, the Ministry of Health discussed the possibility of granting healthcare organizations the right to independently conduct tenders for the purchase of necessary medications.
According to data from the government procurement portal, many hospitals are already independently organizing tenders to acquire medications.

It is worth noting that up to 95% of medicines in Kyrgyzstan are provided through imports.
