Teachers previously expressed concerns that the increase would only affect English language teachers and those in STEM disciplines.
The Ministry of Education of the Kyrgyz Republic has confirmed that starting from April 2026, the salary increase will apply to all teachers, not just those teaching English and STEM subjects, as previously reported.
Teachers from the Issyk-Ata district and Naryn region had previously voiced their concerns that changes in pay would be implemented gradually, primarily affecting only certain categories of educators.
The ministry notes that "by the directive of President Sadyr Japarov, starting from April 1, 2026, the salaries of education workers will increase by 100% compared to the current level. This increase will affect all teachers without exception."
Thus, the president confirmed that teachers' salaries will rise by 100%.
