Zhapаров spoke out about the ban on holding a march on International Women's Day
She noted that she was present at the event until its conclusion, and that the action took place in a calm atmosphere under police control, without any campaigning slogans.
Surabaldiyeva emphasized that citizens have the right to express dissatisfaction regarding domestic violence and violations of rights. "We cannot be against this," she added.
The president responded that the authorities are not opposed to holding actions and rallies, but the ban only applies to events in the square, near courts and prosecutors' offices.
"Actions can take place in Gorky Park without prior permission. We only ask to refrain from actions that contradict our traditions and mentality. In fact, there are not many such citizens, less than 1% of the entire population. But why create tension for the other 7.5 million? People come out with posters, shout slogans, and call for joining. If there were more than half, we would remain silent. Our task is to warn about such moments, as they do not correspond to our customs," emphasized Japarov.
