In Kazakhstan, the National Security Committee is conducting a large-scale investigation related to fake temporary residence permits (TRP), as reported by Meduza.

This case could lead to the deportation of a significant number of Russians who arrived in the country seeking refuge from conflict. This information was provided by the "Word of Protection" project, citing human rights defenders working with migrants from Russia.

Human rights defenders note that among the witnesses in the case are "dozens of men of conscription age." The investigation began in late February 2026, and investigators are "interrogating three to four people at the same time."

The "Word of Protection" project recommends that anyone caught up in the criminal case regarding falsified TRPs leave Kazakhstan immediately to avoid possible deportation to Russia.
