The Mayor of Bishkek commented on the information about the property of Kuanyshbek Kongantieva
The mayor reminded about the disputes that arose on January 30, 2025, during discussions with deputies of the "Zhanı kүch — New Force" faction. At that time, the discussion was about nine plots of land that the deputies are renting. According to Junushaliev, the facts mentioned represent only 10-15% of the entire real picture, and the relevant materials have already been forwarded to law enforcement agencies.
“As soon as I officially announce this, the information is sent to law enforcement, which must conduct an investigation. However, I would like to note that we have provided data not only about the deputies but also about the leadership of the mayor's office. It is necessary to check all municipal assets that have been leased or privatized, including the property of our relatives. If violations are found, measures must be taken. All property should return to the ownership of the city to increase non-tax revenues. It is necessary not only to raise rental rates but also to expand the base. We have set ourselves this task. If new videos appear or any actions occur, it may be the result of a systematic check. We have no other information. We simply exercised our legal right,” the mayor noted.
At a recent meeting of the faction, deputy Maksat Toktogulov reported an incident where one of the deputies rented municipal land for 66,000 soms a month and then subleased it for 9,000 dollars. Kuanychbek Kongantieva, the then leader of the faction, suggested contacting law enforcement in case of illegal actions.
In a published video regarding Kongantieva's assets, it is claimed that during his tenure as a deputy of the BGC and chairman of the land commission, he allegedly rented plots at a reduced price and then transferred them to private ownership, building multi-story houses and commercial properties. It is also mentioned that part of the property is registered in the name of his mother and close relatives.
Journalists attempted to contact Kuanychbek Kongantieva for comments. He promised to call back but never got in touch.
Aibek Junushaliev emphasized that if facts of illegal use of municipal property by deputies or officials are found, they will not go unpunished. In response to questions about possible involvement of the mayor's office, including himself, Junushaliev stated that he is passing all known information to law enforcement and is ready to take responsibility if a connection between him or his relatives and illegal actions is established.
“Disputes and conflicts with the BGC arise precisely on these issues. We have repeatedly said: ‘Do not interfere in the work of the executive branch, do not force leaders to solve issues in your interests, let’s think about the city.’ We adhere to this position,” the mayor added.
