A free master class dedicated to the art of ebru—a unique technique of painting on water—was held in Bishkek. This event attracted many residents of the capital, many of whom came not only to observe but also to try their hand at creating their own patterns. A correspondent from VB.KG attended the master class and spoke with the master.
Participants, along with an experienced master, learned to create drawings on the surface of the water and then transfer them onto paper. For many, this was their first experience with ebru, and the residents of Bishkek noted that the process turned out to be exciting and engaging.
Mukhlisha Kodirberdi kyzy, a master of ebru, has been practicing this art for about four to five years. She studied under Hikmet Barutçugil, a renowned Turkish master who has been included in UNESCO's list of "Living Human Treasures."
- We invited him from Turkey, and it inspired us. One of the key qualities needed to learn ebru is patience. Even with the best materials, it will be difficult to achieve success without patience, - she shared.
According to Mukhlisha, many face difficulties in achieving the desired result at the beginning of their training.
- At first, it may not be easy; the drawings don’t always turn out well. However, with patience, one can achieve success. I learned through trial and error myself, - she noted.
Mukhlisha also reported that at the end of the month, there are plans to invite master Hikmet Barutçugil to Bishkek.
- If everything goes according to plan, he will come to the capital. This will be a great opportunity for everyone interested in ebru to learn from a world-class master, - she added.
Moreover, Mukhlisha emphasized that ebru is now used not only as an artistic direction but also as a method of art therapy.
- Today, children spend a lot of time with gadgets. Ebru helps distract them from screens, develops imagination, and brings calmness. While painting on water, a person relaxes and enjoys the process, - concluded the master.
