A new international university will open in Almaty

The project is being created in collaboration with Arizona State University

A new international university, the University of Innovation and Technology (InnoTech), will begin operations in Almaty. It is being implemented in partnership with Arizona State University, Q Group, and the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of Kazakhstan.

The urban campus in the business center of the capital is expected to start functioning in 2026, while the innovative campus designed in an American style is planned to open in 2028. InnoTech will focus on training personnel for the digital economy, developing innovative technologies, and retaining talented youth in the country, as reported by forbes.kz.

According to statistics, over 90,000 students from Kazakhstan go abroad each year to obtain diplomas recognized by the international community. InnoTech will offer them an alternative — world-class education at home.

The official cooperation agreement was signed during a meeting of Central Asian and U.S. leaders in the C5+1 format with the participation of Kazakhstan's President Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

Sayasat Nurbek, the Minister of Science and Higher Education, believes that InnoTech is a strategically important step for the entire education system in the country. He noted that new-generation universities should not only educate but also serve as laboratories for innovation, centers for attracting talent, and platforms for technological entrepreneurship.

It is worth noting that Arizona State University has been recognized as the most innovative university in the U.S. by U.S. News & World Report for over ten consecutive years and has more than 181,000 students.
