Week-24. A terrible tragedy in Uzgen, and when Muslims will celebrate Kadir Night
Muslims in Kyrgyzstan will celebrate Kadir Night on the night of March 17, 2026, as confirmed by the Spiritual Administration of Muslims. This night, known as the "Night of Decree," holds special significance during Ramadan when angels come to Earth to convey prayers to the Almighty. Believers typically spend this time in prayer and visiting mosques, awaiting one of the most sacred nights of the year.

The price of a dozen eggs in Kyrgyzstan has reached 160–170 soms. The Ministry of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Food Processing explains the price increase by the rising costs of products in Kazakhstan and Russia. The wholesale price for one egg has increased from 10 to 12 soms. Authorities emphasize that this increase will help farmers recover from the crisis of 2025, when low prices pushed small farms to the brink of bankruptcy.

A fire in the village of Myrza-Aryk in the Uzgen district resulted in the deaths of four children born between 2018 and 2023. The cause of the fire was a faulty refrigerator that began to smoke while the grandmother was with her five grandchildren. The homeowner and her eldest granddaughter rushed to call for help from neighbors, but the flames quickly engulfed the building. The children, who were waiting for their parents to return from Russia, and one guest from Osh who had come for vacation, became victims of the tragedy.

Russia is introducing a SPOT system to control the flow of goods within the EAEU. Starting April 1, consignees will be required to register documents and make a security payment two days before crossing the border. Carriers will need a special QR code confirming tax payments. These measures may complicate the work of Kyrgyz tailors, who have already been facing cargo delays since the fall of 2025.

Parliament deputies have initiated a ban on the import and re-registration of cars without catalytic converters, as the absence of filters poses a threat to public health due to harmful emissions. As of the end of 2025, approximately 1 million 910 thousand vehicles are registered in Kyrgyzstan, but exact data on cars without filters is unavailable.
