For International Women's Day: Mavludakhan Ryskulova — the woman who raised the mayor of the city of Uzgen during the challenging 90s
Mavludakhan Ryskulova, the mayor's mother, was born on November 17, 1959, in the village of Safarovka in the Suzak district. She is currently 66 years old and has raised three children.
Eldos recalls growing up during the difficult times of the 1990s. Despite all the hardships, his mother tried to provide her children with everything they needed. “Life was tough back then, but my mom did everything to ensure we didn’t go without. She could go hungry, but she always fed us. I remember one time she went to work even when she was sick. I begged her to stay home, but she wouldn’t agree. Now I understand that it was all for us,” he shares.
According to the mayor, his mother always gave him valuable advice. She encouraged her children to study, behave with dignity, and avoid bad deeds, often repeating that patience is the key to success.
For Eldos Taev, his mother plays a crucial role in his life. “She always blessed me (‘bata’) and said: ‘If you serve the people, I will be on cloud nine with happiness.’ Every word of hers inspires me and gives me strength for my next steps,” he noted.
The key lessons he learned from his mother are patience and honesty.
Reflecting on his childhood, the mayor also recounted touching moments from their family life: his mother affectionately called him “kozum” (my lamb) because of his curly hair. But, as the mayor admits, sometimes he had to face the consequences for his mischief.
