At the "flea" market of the Jayil district, two ancient coins from the era of Alexander II were sold for 8,000 soms.
The purchase was made by antique enthusiasts who paid 8,000 soms for both coins.
Historian and local historian Maxim Podgorny shared information about the value and cost of these coins.
According to him, these silver rubles date back to 1877 and belong to the era of Alexander II's reign. On the collector's market in Kyrgyzstan, such authentic specimens can cost between 7,000 and 10,000 soms, depending on their condition.
“Silver rubles arrived in Kyrgyzstan with the first Russian settlers, who began arriving after 1860. They are made of 868 silver, each coin weighs 20 grams, and the diameter reaches 35.5 mm,” Podgorny reported.
