This year, on March 7, we celebrate the 90th anniversary of the birth of Kadyrbek Ilyasovich Ilyasov — a distinguished physician of the Kyrgyz Republic. His passing in 2025 left a deep mark in the hearts of his patients and colleagues, who still remember him as a doctor with exceptional responsibility and scope.

During his more than fifty-year career in medicine, Kadyrbek Ilyasovich combined practical work with leadership, contributing to the development of urological services in the regions and consulting patients at the Republican Diagnostic Center. He performed over 16,000 surgeries and authored numerous scientific publications.

Childhood and Education

Kadyrbek Ilyasov was born on March 7, 1936, in the village of Ak-Bashat, located in the Moskovsky district of the Chui region. His childhood was spent during difficult times, and his interest in medicine began to form during his school years.

After graduating from Budyonovsk Secondary School in 1953, he enrolled in a medical institute. In one of his interviews, he shared that his desire to become a doctor arose under the influence of a rural doctor and the allure of the "world of medicine."

Beginning of Career: Jalal-Abad

Upon graduating from the Faculty of Medicine in 1959, Kadyrbek Ilyasovich was assigned to work in Jalal-Abad, where he became a surgeon at the city hospital and simultaneously taught at a medical college. Here, he decided to switch to urology, as there was a severe shortage of specialists in this field and a large number of patients.

Since 1962, he headed the city polyclinic while continuing to perform surgeries. He later noted that in Jalal-Abad, "urology was practically absent," and it needed to be developed in all areas — from treatment to care and discipline.

Healthcare Organization

In 1970, Ilyasov took the position of chief physician of the Osh regional polyclinic, where he combined administrative duties with practice in urology and general surgery, paying special attention to pediatric urology, where complex clinical cases were often encountered.

He then worked in republican clinics: in 1976, he became an intern and urological surgeon, in 1977 — the first deputy chief physician of Clinical Hospital No. 1 in Frunze, and in 1979 — the first deputy chief physician of the Republican Clinical Hospital. He completed his surgical activities in 1990 but continued to consult patients.

Establishment of the Republican Diagnostic Center

One of the key moments in his career was the establishment of the Republican Diagnostic Center in Bishkek. In the late 1980s, modern diagnostic equipment was provided to the republics of the Union, but only when the corresponding buildings were ready. Kyrgyzstan needed to act quickly, and the situation was unstable.

In Kadyrbek Ilyasovich's memories, this event reflects his managerial agility: to not miss out on the equipment, the commission showed a completely different building, and soon the republic received the necessary technology, which began to function within the healthcare system.

Kadyrbek Ilyasovich is often described as a doctor who did not shy away from complex cases and made decisions in critical situations. He performed rare surgeries for the country, developed reconstructive urology, and worked with congenital anomalies in children.

At the same time, he was able to explain medical aspects to patients in simple and accessible language, without arrogance. He emphasized the importance of timely medical consultation and warned against self-medication.

Family and Support
