UNICEF welcomes the introduction of the unified child benefit 'Bala Yrysy' in Kyrgyzstan

UNICEF has enthusiastically welcomed the new decree signed by President Sadyr Japarov, which introduces a monthly state benefit "Bala Yrysy" for children under three years old.

Samman Tapa, a UNICEF representative, emphasized that this step demonstrates Kyrgyzstan's strong commitment to protecting children's rights and investing in their early development.

“Increasing social protection for young children is one of the most effective ways to combat child poverty and provide every child with optimal starting conditions in life. As part of the national development program until 2030, a specific goal is set: to reduce the child poverty rate from 33.1% to 25%, improve access to social protection measures, ensure primary healthcare, and accelerate the development of preschool education. The introduction of the 'Bala Yrysy' benefit is an important step towards achieving these goals and strengthening children's rights in Kyrgyzstan,” he noted.

Research shows that every dollar invested in early childhood can yield up to 13 dollars through improved educational outcomes, increased productivity, better health, and reduced social inequality.

UNICEF expresses gratitude to the government of the Kyrgyz Republic for its attention to the needs of children and families and its readiness to continue cooperation with national partners to develop and implement the "Bala Yrysy" program aimed at strengthening the social protection system and improving the lives of every child,” the statement said.
