Deputy of the Jogorku Kenesh, Tabyldy Muratbekov, proposed to increase tariffs on drinking water, which sparked a wave of criticism from citizens. In response, Daiyrbek Orunbekov, head of the information policy service of the President's Administration of Kyrgyzstan, expressed his position: “In principle, the deputy is right. We must admit that we irrationally waste clean water. It is quite inexpensive, and we often see people, while washing or shaving, leaving the tap running, allowing water to flow freely while they admire themselves in the mirror. This is domestic wastefulness that can be seen in every home,” he noted.
Orunbekov also added that many use drinking water for watering gardens and other household needs, while in some countries people do not even have a drop. “You know that in the future, the problem with water resources will become one of the most serious global issues,” he emphasized.
He also pointed out that the current costs of maintaining water supply in homes are not justified. Therefore, before condemning the deputy who raised the issue of increasing tariffs, everyone should think about the rational and careful use of water,” concluded Orunbekov.
