Kyrgyzstan supported the global initiative on gender equality issues
On March 5, the Kyrgyz Stock Exchange (KSE), with the support of UN Women, held its sixth annual trading opening ceremony titled Ring the Bell for Gender Equality.

This event, held under the slogan "Rights. Justice. Action. For all women and girls," gathered participants from various sectors, including government agencies, the judiciary, the financial market, international organizations, and the media.

The organization of this ceremony in Kyrgyzstan is part of a broader international campaign by stock exchanges aimed at supporting gender equality and sustainable development. Every year, the KSE, as an active member of the global exchange community, participates in this movement, emphasizing the importance of an inclusive economy.

The main goal of the event was to draw attention to the fact that empowering women is not only a matter of social justice but is also critically important for the stability of the financial system and the economic growth of the country.

During discussions planned for 2026, one of the key topics will be women's access to justice, which is considered fundamental to economic well-being. The importance of this topic lies in eliminating systemic barriers such as legal illiteracy and insufficient protection of property and labor rights.

Speakers at the meeting included Antje Grave, the UN Resident Coordinator in Kyrgyzstan, Deputy Minister of Justice Sayra Izakova, and the UN Women representative in the country, Said Sadik.

KSE General Director Aida Chodulova emphasized that women play an important role in Kyrgyzstan's financial sector, acting not only as highly qualified specialists but also as strategically thinking investors.

"Research shows that women investors often take a more measured approach to risks and exhibit high discipline, which contributes to market stability. Our goal is to create conditions where women entrepreneurs and private investors can effectively grow their capital under the reliable protection of the law," she added.

Said Sadik, the UN Women representative in Kyrgyzstan, noted that access to justice is a key condition for achieving gender equality and expanding women's economic rights. "When women can defend their rights and participate in economic life on equal terms, it makes societies more resilient and inclusive. UN Women is proud to partner with the KSE under the Ring the Bell for Gender Equality initiative, moving from words to action," he added.

The event also featured panel discussions where experts discussed in detail how creating conditions for the protection of women's rights can enhance the country's investment attractiveness.
