The drainage system problem in the village of Savay will be fully resolved by 2026 — Ministry of Agriculture

The drainage issues affecting the village of Savay, located in the Kara-Suu district of the Osh region, will be completely resolved by 2026. This was announced at a meeting of the council of the Ministry of Agriculture of the Kyrgyz Republic, where the Deputy Minister and Head of the Water Resources Department, Almaz Zheenaliev, spoke.

As part of international cooperation, work is already underway in the village of Savay to create a collector-drainage network. A long-standing issue that remained unresolved has been successfully addressed thanks to negotiations between the Kyrgyz Republic and Uzbekistan. These joint efforts have helped restore water flow in the region.

On the part of Uzbekistan, 10 kilometers of the collector have been cleared, and three siphons have been fully opened, which has contributed to the restoration of water supply.
Currently, the State Enterprise "Hydrogeology" is actively engaged in the mechanical cleaning of 23.3 kilometers of the collector-drainage network managed by the Kyrgyz Republic. Of this length, 11.6 kilometers have already been cleaned, and the remaining 11.7 kilometers are planned to be completed by 2026 according to the established schedule.
According to information from the ministry, the resolution of irrigation issues in Savay will be completed within 2026. This will ensure effective irrigation of agricultural lands, which, in turn, will allow farmers to increase the volume and quality of their products, as well as enhance the resilience of the lands to irrigation.
