On "Birinchi Radio," ENT doctor Nurdana Eshbolot kyzy shared information about the necessity of preventing otitis in young children.

According to her, children are more susceptible to ear, throat, and nose diseases. This is explained by the fact that their nasal cavity is significantly smaller, and the Eustachian tube is horizontally positioned with a short distance between the nose and the ear.

“Everything is small for them, and often diseases start with ARVI. When a mother does not clean her child's nose, it can lead to complications. Many think that if there is a runny nose, it will pass on its own. We always emphasize that during ARVI, it is necessary to clean the nose; this is a preventive measure against otitis. We recommend using nasal aspirators,” she noted.

Some parents mistakenly believe that antibiotics can serve as an alternative for prevention; however, Eshbolot kyzy emphasized that these medications do not prevent the development of otitis.

Doctors strongly remind that self-administering antibiotics is not recommended — they should only be prescribed by a specialist when necessary.

Nurdana Eshbolot kyzy urged parents to take care of their children's nasal hygiene during flu and other viral illnesses to avoid aspiration into the ear and acute otitis, which can negatively affect the child's health, including hearing loss.
