One cannot play Russian roulette with the fate of millions. Spain responded to Trump

In his televised address to the nation, Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sánchez expressed strong opposition to the ongoing war with Iran, calling it a "catastrophe for humanity," reports DW.

Sánchez urged against repeating the "mistakes of the past," referring to the international coalition's invasion, including the U.S., of Iraq in 2003. He noted that this operation did not achieve its goals and led to a deterioration of the situation in the region, as well as suffering for the local population.

"The government of Spain takes a clear position: 'no to war.' We will not be accomplices to actions that threaten peace and contradict our values, merely out of fear of the consequences. This is how great disasters for humanity begin. One cannot play Russian roulette with the fate of millions," the Prime Minister emphasized, adding that his opinion is shared by many other governments, as well as millions of people across Europe, North America, and the Middle East, who oppose new conflicts and uncertainty in the future.

Recently, U.S. President Donald Trump threatened to "cut all trade ties" with Spain, calling the country "terrible" after Pedro Sánchez denied permission to use Spanish military bases for attacks on Iran. This refusal was justified as an "unjustified and dangerous military intervention."
