According to information from the press service, the focus was on improving the quality of medical services for mothers and newborns, as well as on measures to reduce maternal and infant mortality.
In the country, perinatal care is organized according to a three-level system, which ensures consistent and continuous provision of medical assistance. Specialized third-level services are provided at the National Center for Maternal and Child Health, the Kyrgyz Scientific Center for Human Reproduction, and the maternity hospital of the Osh Interregional Clinical Hospital.
Today, the healthcare system has 2,167 maternity beds, 741 gynecological beds, and 521 beds for pregnancy pathology.
As of now, the coverage of pregnant women with antenatal care remains high at 91.7%. The infrastructure of the service continues to strengthen: construction of perinatal centers in the Talas and Osh regions is underway, which will improve access to specialized care for women in the regions and reduce the routing time for patients.
The meeting also presented a detailed analysis of the causes of maternal mortality for 2025. The Ministry has developed a comprehensive set of measures aimed at improving the quality of medical services, increasing human resources, optimizing routing for pregnant women, and developing digital technologies in the services.
Among the main priorities for the development of the perinatal service until 2030 are:
- optimization of obstetric-gynecological care with an emphasis on prevention;
- improvement of the monitoring system for pregnant women and routing of patients;
- revision of antenatal care standards with a focus on service quality;
- implementation of modern prenatal screening technologies;
- creation of a genetic laboratory;
- development of family planning programs and preparation of women for pregnancy;
- introduction of remote consultations for regional hospitals;
- strengthening the material and technical base of obstetric-gynecological and neonatal services.
