The city authorities have presented a plan for the automation of parking with new rates reaching 50 soms per hour.
In Bishkek, the issue of introducing paid parking is being raised again. The city hall has initiated a discussion on a draft resolution regarding the regulation of municipal parking and parking lots in the capital.
The goal of the proposed reforms is to eliminate the chaos of spontaneous parking and introduce an automated system for processing payments.
A key element of the new project is clear zoning. In the "red zone," which covers the city center, the parking fee will be 50 soms per hour, which should help reduce the burden on congested streets. In the "blue zone" and other areas, rates of 40 and 30 soms respectively are planned, which should contribute to the organization of parking in residential and business areas. The implementation of this plan involves a complete transition to digital technologies, excluding manual payment collection.
Car owners who refuse to comply with the new rules face fines ranging from 1,000 to 5,000 soms.
