The Speaker of the Parliament urged journalists and bloggers not to succumb to rumors about deputies.
At a recent meeting, the Speaker of the Jogorku Kenesh, Marlen Mamataliev, announced that the salary of deputies is 58,432 soms, and there is also an additional fund of 80,000 soms.
He noted that the issue of deputies' salaries arose during one of his interviews dedicated to digitalization. However, his answer to this question was misinterpreted by the general public, which is why the Speaker decided to clarify the situation.
“The basic salary of deputies is 58,432 soms. An additional 80,000 soms is allocated, but these funds are used for the maintenance of the official vehicle, fuel, payment for the driver’s labor, as well as for handling numerous citizens' appeals. Moreover, we often have to travel to the regions. For example, just a round-trip flight can cost 10,000 soms. Thus, this money is spent on various work-related needs,” Mamataliev explained.
The Speaker also added that sometimes personal funds have to be added to these 80,000 soms.
In conclusion of his speech, the head of the parliament urged some journalists and bloggers to refrain from spreading rumors about possible changes in the composition of deputies.
