The Ministry of Health has proposed changes to the legislation on medical insurance
In Kyrgyzstan, it is planned that mandatory contributions for medical insurance for citizens under the age of 18 will be covered by the republican budget. These changes pertain to the law "On Medical Insurance for Citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic."
The initiator of this bill is the Ministry of Health, which proposes amendments to Article 9 of the current law. According to the new conditions, the state will make contributions to the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund for children and adolescents up to 18 years old.
Currently, contributors are considered to be individuals who have reached the age of 16. However, the justification note indicates that according to the Constitution, the Children's Code, and the Convention on the Rights of the Child, minors are recognized as individuals under 18 years old.
The ministry emphasizes that the main goal of these amendments is to guarantee mandatory health insurance for citizens and to ensure that children have access to free and preferential medical services through state guarantee programs implemented by medical institutions working under contracts with the Mandatory Health Insurance Fund.
The size and procedure for making contributions for children will be determined by the Cabinet of Ministers.
It is worth noting that the Jogorku Kenesh has already approved the bill in the second reading.
