Student Rotation. A Program for Regional Mobility is Being Prepared in Kyrgyzstan
According to ministry representatives, this initiative aims to improve access to higher education and encourage student mobility between different regions of the country.
It is noted that the student community in Kyrgyzstan actively participates in societal life. Youth from various corners of the country, studying in vocational educational institutions, have the opportunity to exchange ideas and experiences, which contributes to the development of interregional integration.
“The implementation of academic mobility programs is part of reforms aimed at improving the higher education system. These changes are focused on enhancing the quality of education, creating social justice, and developing human capital in line with the demands of the modern labor market,” the ministry added.
One of the first steps in implementing this program was the update of the list of training areas and specialties in higher education. Currently, educational and methodological associations are conducting an inventory of existing programs, excluding outdated and irrelevant areas, as well as consolidating them.
Furthermore, the ministry is working on revising state educational standards, with an emphasis on student learning outcomes.
It is worth noting that earlier, President Sadyr Japarov announced the launch of a student rotation system for those receiving budget-funded education. Starting in 2027, it is planned to redistribute budget places between regions: southern applicants will be sent to study in the north, while students from the north will go to the southern regions.
According to the president, around 10,000 students receive budget places annually, and it is expected that 5,000 students from each region will study outside their own areas.
