Kyrgyzstanis in Kuwait: The situation is stable, there is no panic among the local residents.
As reported by Turmush, the representative of the Kyrgyz diaspora in Kuwait, Aikokul Tolkunbekova, the atmosphere is calm. The embassy has already begun to clarify lists of citizens and prepare for potential emergencies.
Local Kyrgyz citizens note that only explosions can be heard in the sky. Meanwhile, the everyday life of Kuwaitis has not undergone significant changes.
“The situation in the country is calm, and there is no panic among the people. We live near the center of Kuwait, in the Hawalli and Salmiya areas. Sometimes we hear rocket explosions in the sky, which, according to rumors, are used to destroy other rockets. But the locals are behaving calmly,” Tolkunbekova shares her opinion.
The Embassy of Kyrgyzstan in Kuwait is actively working to clarify information about its citizens.
In case of an emergency, a special list is being created for the possible evacuation of citizens to a safe place. Currently, 301 citizens of Kyrgyzstan are registered on this list, and it continues to be updated,” added A. Tolkunbekova.
According to the director of the Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Seytek Jumakadyrov, voiced at a press conference, as of March 2, there are about 22,000 citizens of Kyrgyzstan in the Gulf countries.
He noted that the largest number of citizens is in the UAE (approximately 10,000) and in Saudi Arabia (about 6,000). “In light of the current tense situation in the Middle East, the ministry is taking measures to protect the rights of Kyrgyz citizens in these countries, including Bahrain, Iraq, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, the UAE, and Kuwait. The region also includes Israel and Iran,” he added.
So far, there have been no reports of injured or homeless Kyrgyz citizens. All citizens are receiving the necessary assistance from consular services, with many requests for support coming from Dubai, where a large number of tourists are located.
On February 28, the USA and Israel began military actions against Iran. Prior to this, negotiations were held between representatives of Washington and Tehran regarding the Iranian nuclear program, during which the USA insisted on halting the development of nuclear weapons. The third round of negotiations took place in Geneva on February 26.
