Sagynov also noted that the relevant decree No. 270 was adopted by the Cabinet of Ministers on May 28, 2024. The ban concerns such plants as macrotomia, arnebia, ash tree, aconite, aflatun onion, rhodiola, Samarkand everlasting, Olga's beetle, long-stalked beetle, columnar beetle, and Chimgan beetle.
The following actions with these plants are prohibited:
- collection and processing;
- purchase and sale;
- transportation and use;
- export beyond the country.
“One of the most frequently collected plants is macrotomia, which is mainly harvested in the Toktogul district in the south of the country. Illegal collection mainly occurs in mountainous areas, where this plant is smuggled and sold abroad. Macrotomia is used for medical and cosmetic purposes. Our regional inspectors regularly conduct raids to prevent the illegal harvesting of such plants. Digging them up with roots causes serious harm to the ecosystem,” emphasized Azat Sagynov.
He added that raids are carried out on a continuous basis and around the clock.
