Life in the Regions: Cholpon Kulzhanova from the Alamedin District Got Married at Issyk-Kul and Gave Birth to 5 Sons and 2 Daughters
Cholpon's life began on April 4, 1981, in the Alamedin district. After finishing school, she enrolled in one of the universities in the capital, choosing the specialty of "biologist-zoologist" — a childhood dream of hers. In 2004, she successfully completed her studies, and a year later, she got married. Initially, the young family lived in the capital, but soon returned to her husband's native village — Ak-Kochkor, where they have remained. Currently, Cholpon's eldest son is already 20 years old, while her youngest daughter is only two.
“I grew up in a family with three children and always dreamed of having a sister. It’s important to have someone to share secrets with and to receive advice from. Sometimes, you don’t want to upset your mom with your worries, so a sister is very much needed. A year after our wedding, we had our first son, then two more boys were born, and I began to dream of a daughter. My dream came true six years later — we had a girl. I remembered my childhood wishes and thought it would be great to give her a younger sister. So, after the birth of two more sons, we had another girl, which brought happiness to our entire family. My husband also has only one sister, so we eagerly awaited the arrival of our daughters. I am grateful to fate for becoming a mother-heroine,” Cholpon shares.
They named their children Rasul, Ramis, Ramzan, Rabiya, Amir, Alim, and Raziya.
“The eldest son works as a cook, the second is studying at university, and the other children are still in school. As a mother, I wish them good health, proper upbringing, and that each finds their path in life. I hope that my older sons will meet good partners in the future and create strong families,” she says.
In 2025, Cholpon Kulzhanova was awarded the "Mother-Heroine" order. “This is a great honor for me and a huge responsibility. When my name was announced during the award ceremony, I was very nervous. But for me, the most important thing is that my children are happy, and that is the highest reward,” she recounts.
According to Cholpon, the days of a mother-heroine are filled with activity: the laughter and antics of her children create a cozy atmosphere at home. “I am happy when my children appreciate my efforts. Even if I haven’t taught them cooking, they enjoy eating and say, ‘Thank you, mom, it’s very delicious!’ In a large family, the children grow up very close-knit. The older ones always help the younger ones and support me, which makes us a reliable support for each other,” Cholpon adds.
In her free time, she enjoys sewing. Cholpon sews dresses for her daughters and clothes for her sons, paying special attention to the outfits for the girls. Her daughter Rabiya, born in 2017, is already showing an interest in crafts. “Rabiya loves to create flowers from various materials. I support her hobby by buying everything she needs. She made her first flower from an online video tutorial and now makes them on her own. Rabiya gifts her creations to relatives or sells them in the local store, and with the money she earns, she buys new materials for her crafts. She studies well and successfully combines her studies with her hobby,” Cholpon shares.
