In Batken, the post opened to combat smuggling has been abandoned. What did the director of the Border Service say?
The closure of this post was confirmed by Abdikarim Alimbaev, the director of the Border Service. The post was located near the village of Chon-Talaa in the Batken district, on the 210 km highway Osh—Batken—Razakov. The main function of the staff was to monitor freight transport, where they carefully checked documents for goods and livestock heading to the Batken and Leilek districts.
Local residents note that despite the operation of the "Razvilka" post, the level of smuggling has not decreased, which was the reason for its closure.
“Initially, this post was mobile and established based on a special permit. It was not tied to one location but moved to carry out operational tasks. Currently, we have temporarily suspended its operation. Future actions will depend on the situation: if smuggling ceases, then there will be no need for such posts,” noted Abdikarim Alimbaev.
