In 2023, new quotas were established for the duty-free import of electric vehicles
From 2023 to 2025, a quota for the duty-free import of electric vehicles will be in effect in Kyrgyzstan, amounting to up to 10 thousand vehicles annually. However, by 2026, this figure is planned to be increased to 15 thousand. This information was announced at a seminar dedicated to the national electric mobility strategy, which took place in Bishkek.
Experts presented information about the growth of the electric vehicle market in the country during the event.
According to the EAEU regulations, quotas for the duty-free import of electric vehicles were established in 2023.
If about 5 thousand electric vehicles were registered in Kyrgyzstan in 2022, the annual quota for duty-free import from 2023 to 2025 will be up to 10 thousand. It is expected that by 2026 this number will increase to 15 thousand electric vehicles.
In addition, the infrastructure for charging electric vehicles is actively developing.
There are already more than 230 charging stations operating in the country, of which approximately 60 are located in the capital.
