Mandatory medical examination before marriage. Opinions of readers of 24.kg are divided
According to the results of the poll on the website 24.kg, more than half of the respondents support the idea of mandatory medical examinations before entering into marriage.
At the same time, one third of the survey participants admitted that they underwent a medical examination before getting married, while slightly more respondents answered negatively.

Additionally, 26% of participants noted that they regularly undergo medical examinations once a year.

Recently, deputy Nurgamal Torobekova from the Jogorku Kenesh proposed introducing mandatory medical examinations for citizens wishing to marry.

She believes that this measure will help prevent the transmission of infectious diseases between spouses, especially in the context of migration processes.

“Cases where our young people, for example, in Moscow, get infected are not uncommon. Parents, knowing about their son’s illness, do not warn the bride, and as a result, the infection is transmitted to her,” the deputy noted.

Some social media users supported this initiative but raised questions about the healthcare system's readiness to implement such an approach. Others expressed the opinion that the medical examination should be recommended rather than mandatory.

Additionally, there have been previous proposals in Kyrgyzstan to conduct genetic testing for couples before conceiving a child, which is related to the increasing number of childhood disabilities. The authorities, in turn, plan to open specialized screening centers in each region of the republic.
