At a meeting of the Education Committee of the Jogorku Kenesh, Deputy Saltanat Amanova raised the issue of conditions in schools, noting that in many of them, toilets are located outside and are in poor condition.

According to her, students have to go outside to use the restroom. Most schools lack sinks for handwashing, and even where they do exist, hot water is often unavailable. "When will we address these issues? Before embarking on serious reforms, it is necessary to create proper physical conditions for children so that they can learn in a more comfortable environment. If even basic conditions are lacking, how can we talk about reforming education and catching up with leading countries?" she posed a rhetorical question.

In response, Bishkek's Deputy Mayor Victoria Mozgacheva stated that there are indoor restrooms in the capital's schools.

“Every year, if necessary, we carry out repairs. As part of the ADB program, several schools in the capital still have outdoor toilets; however, this year we plan to complete the modernization work,” she added.

The deputy also inquired with Deputy Minister of Education Nadira Jusupbekova about the state of toilets in the regions and requested accurate data on the number of schools with indoor and outdoor toilets. The deputy minister promised to provide this information in writing.

According to Amanova, education reform should begin with improving infrastructure in educational institutions.
