School graduates in the regions cannot speak English and Russian. Why is that?
She emphasized that the quality of language teaching in the regions leaves much to be desired. As a result, even after 11 years of classes, students face difficulties in conversational practice.
The deputy addressed Deputy Minister of Education Nadira Jusupbekova with the question: "Why, despite Russian language lessons, are children unable to express their thoughts clearly?" Amanova also noted that the funds invested in English language education are not yielding results.
The deputy minister agreed that the current methods of language teaching in Kyrgyzstan are not sufficiently effective. She added that similar problems are observed with the study of the Kyrgyz language.
In her opinion, the ineffectiveness of education is related to the emphasis on grammar in textbooks, where practical and communicative methods are lacking. "We are updating the teaching materials for English from grades 1 to 12 so that children can learn to speak and understand spoken language," she explained.
As for the Kyrgyz language, a competition has been announced for the creation of teaching materials using modern methodologies, and training for future teachers according to new standards is also planned," the deputy minister added.
