Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic: Some hotels and airlines ignore force majeure conditions
According to him, the UAE tourism department issued a directive stating that hotels must provide free extensions of stay.
However, as Jumakadyrov uulu noted, in practice, not all companies comply with this directive. As a result, consuls have to go on-site to resolve the issues that arise.
He also emphasized that in such situations, citizens should immediately contact the consulate or the headquarters established at the consular department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
Contacts for the Kyrgyz Embassy in the UAE: +971522255269;
Kyrgyz Consulate in Dubai: +971522918840;
Consular Department of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Kyrgyz Republic: +996999312002.
A representative of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Abu Dhabi pointed out that the main problem lies in the failure of some airlines and hotels to fulfill their obligations. In emergency situations, carriers are required to provide accommodation for passengers. However, it turns out that the airline Air Arabia is not accommodating all of its clients, while FlyDubai is showing a more responsible attitude towards the situation.
To resolve these disputes, consuls are going on-site, even at night, to negotiate with the administrations and protect the rights of Kyrgyz citizens.
Earlier, the editorial office of 24.kg was contacted by Kyrgyz citizen Erkingul Sharshenbekova, who reported that she and other compatriots were stranded in the emirate of Ajman (UAE) due to the closure of airspace in the region. The woman noted that they have to pay for their accommodation themselves, while the authorities and the consulate show no interest in their situation.
As of March 2, there are about 22,000 citizens of the Kyrgyz Republic in the Middle East, primarily in Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates. Currently, there are no reports of injuries or those left without shelter among them.
