Week-24. General's meteor shower, and what is being demolished again in the center of Bishkek
A real meteor shower has hit the law enforcement officers. Ulan Niyazbekov, head of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, received the title of Colonel General of Police, while the new head of the State National Security Committee, Jumgalbek Shabdanbekov, became a Lieutenant General. All his deputies were also promoted to Major Generals.

While some celebrated the new appointments, others left their positions. Thus, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Water Resources, Agriculture, and Processing Industry Bakyt Torobaev resigned voluntarily, which is linked to recent political events and audio recordings, despite his denial of involvement in these facts.

Erlis Akunbekov took the vacant position. He is 42 years old, hails from Osh, and is a graduate of Osh State University and the Moscow State University of Management. As a private entrepreneur, he manages the agribusiness company ATS-Group and heads the Association of Fertilizer Suppliers.

Health Minister Kanibek Dosmambetov was relieved of his duties, which he held since December 2025. He was replaced by Damirbek Osmonov.

Changes also affected the Jogorku Kenesh. Bolotbek Borbiev and Gulsyunkan Junushalieva resigned from their positions as chairpersons of two committees. Their places were taken by Suyunbek Omurzakov and Gulkan Moldobekova, while deputies Raimberdi Duyshenbiev and Jayloobai Nyshanov were sworn in and received mandates from their departed colleagues.

In Bishkek, the demolition of illegal metal structures near the Central Department Store (TSUM) has begun. Mayor Aybek Junushaliev is personally overseeing the dismantling process, as the new construction violates the sketches and destroys the fountain area. He also insists on restoring the original condition of the site. We expect the completion of this operation.

In 2025, 226 people were held accountable for dropperism in Kyrgyzstan. The police are intensifying efforts to inform citizens about the risks associated with the sale of bank cards and personal data, which fraudsters use to steal funds.
Starting April 1, vehicle re-registration in the country will be conducted exclusively online through the "Tunduk" system. Visiting the State Center for Registration of Vehicles and Drivers ("Unaa") is no longer required, except for obtaining technical passports and state license plates. In the future, there are plans to organize home delivery of documents to completely eliminate personal visits.

The share of electric vehicles in Kyrgyzstan is less than 1 percent (0.8 percent), despite a significant increase in their numbers in recent years. The total vehicle fleet of the country has exceeded 1 million 909 thousand units, of which 51 percent continue to use gasoline. To improve the environmental situation in Bishkek, more than 100 charging stations have been installed.
The country's gold and foreign exchange reserves reached a record, exceeding $10 billion 177 million. Over the past year, assets have nearly doubled, increasing by 96 percent. These reserve funds serve as a reliable shield for the stability of the national currency.

Reasons for the large-scale personnel purge in the KR related to Tashiev

Most likely, the answer to the question posed in the headline is obvious — they are removing those connected to the general. It becomes even clearer if we assume that the large-scale personnel changes are not just about "trust — distrust," but a deeper transformation of power.
