During the republican meeting on February 27, attended by President Sadyr Japarov, Edil Baisalov announced plans to purchase four supercomputers for Kyrgyzstan.

According to him, the president had previously supported the proposal of Academician Syrtbay Musaev to acquire a supercomputer, which is necessary for advancing artificial intelligence technologies in the country.

“In 2021, we spent significant funds, which was particularly noticeable in the context of the budget at that time. One supercomputer has already been purchased, but for three years we could not acquire another one, despite the allocated funds. However, in April, we expect the arrival of four such systems at once. At the same time, our neighbors are purchasing them in large quantities,” Baisalov emphasized, adding that these supercomputers will also be used in the educational and medical fields.

The Deputy Prime Minister stressed that the launch of the Starlink system in Kyrgyzstan should have happened a long time ago.

“Unfortunately, over the past four years, this system has not been implemented, even though the president signed a document on this issue last fall. This is undoubtedly a shame for us. While Georgia, Armenia, Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan are already actively using this technology, we continue to remain on the sidelines,” he noted.
