Work on the planting of saxaul has resumed at the bottom of the Aral Sea
Planting saxaul is crucial for the long-term restoration of nature in the Aral Sea region, as each tree acts as a natural barrier against destructive salt-dust storms. The ability of saxaul to retain soil helps prevent further desertification and contributes to the overall ecological resilience of the region.
This year, the event was complemented by the educational program Aral School. Young activists were able to see the consequences of the climate crisis firsthand by working in areas that were underwater just a few decades ago.
The main goal of such events is not only to plant a certain number of trees but also to ensure long-term soil stabilization. Experts emphasize that only systematic and long-term greening of the seabed can lead to an improved ecological situation and increase the region's resilience to dust storms.
