Edil Baisalov: No pensioner now receives less than 8,000 soms
As Baisalov noted, the public is actively discussing the rising costs of goods and services, despite the fact that the economy is showing steady growth. “The budget has increased 3.5 times, and the economic growth rate is 10-11 percent,” he added.
The Deputy Chairman emphasized that the president is closely monitoring the situation, and the economic block of the government is conducting regular monitoring and taking additional measures.
Baisalov characterized the increase in prices as a global process that began during the pandemic and intensified under the influence of geopolitical factors. “Our economy is functioning steadily. Over the past five years, the exchange rate of the som has not changed, but the influence of global markets remains inevitable. Complete protection of the economy from external factors is impossible for any government,” he noted.
As an example, he provided data: at previous growth rates, by 2025, the average salary could be around 23,000 soms, instead of 44,500. The average pension would then be about 7,000, while it currently stands at 11,238 soms. “At present, there is not a single pensioner receiving less than 8,000 soms,” Baisalov emphasized.
According to him, if the state had continued to operate under old schemes, the poverty level could have reached 50% of the population. Therefore, the government is focusing on supporting production, creating jobs, enhancing export opportunities, and increasing social assistance.
Baisalov assured that Kyrgyzstan is confidently moving towards sustainable development. “The main thing is to maintain the current pace. It is necessary to keep optimism. The unity of the people and trust between the authorities and citizens are key factors. The other problems are solvable,” he concluded.
