Bishkek Transport Department: In the context of optimization, bus routes will be redistributed
In Bishkek, a redistribution of bus routes is planned for the summer period. This was reported by the Department of Transport, which announced changes aimed at improving the transport situation for residents and guests of the capital.
The changes are set to be implemented in the current summer season.
According to department representatives, the route network will be revised, especially in the central part of the city — for example, on the section from Kyivskaya Street to Abdrakhmanov Street. The routes will be supplemented with secondary streets that have not yet been covered by public transport.
Currently, streets such as Abdrakhmanov Street and Ch. Aitmatov Avenue are experiencing significant strain due to the increase in the number of routes. The department noted that there should be no more than ten routes on the central and main streets of Bishkek to avoid congestion.
The department also reported the arrival of new buses of the "Zontong" brand in the city.
The work on redistributing the routes will cover a significant number of previously unused streets, such as Mederov Street, Toktogul Street, Zh. Pudovkin Street, and L. Tolstoy Street.
Some residents expressed concerns that it would be difficult to reach remote points from the neighborhoods. However, this is not the case. For example, route No. 9 covers the entire city, and if necessary, transfers can be made via direct or circular routes.
The optimization will only affect part of the route network; some lines will remain unchanged after monitoring and timing are completed.
Although the optimization process has already begun, the main work on changing the schemes will be carried out at the beginning of summer, when a decrease in the number of cars and passengers in the city is expected due to the start of vacations and summer holidays.
It is worth noting that over the past three years, the Bishkek city hall has eliminated minibuses in the city center and abolished trolleybuses as a form of public transport. At the same time, city authorities plan to introduce trams according to the new general plan.
