OpenAI has blocked ChatGPT accounts associated with the Telegram channel "Rybar"
According to the information provided by the company, the group used ChatGPT to create content that was subsequently published on social media. This content was generated in several languages, including Russian, English, and Spanish, and was posted both on accounts linked to "Rybar" and on the project's website.
Furthermore, the chatbot was also tasked with generating comments in English that were published on Telegram and social media X through accounts that did not disclose their connection to the channel.
The report emphasizes that the main account of the network requested a translation into English of a list of services that could be offered by "Rybar." This list included managing accounts on Telegram and X, creating a bilingual website for "investigative journalism" aimed at an African audience, placing paid publications in French-speaking media, and organizing a network of accounts to disseminate information.
Some requests involved editing texts related to potential interference in electoral processes in African countries. In particular, information campaigns targeting the Democratic Republic of the Congo, elections in Burundi and Cameroon, as well as events in Madagascar, including inciting protests, were mentioned.
According to Russian journalists, the Telegram channel "Rybar" has over 1.5 million subscribers. It was founded by Mikhail Zvinchuk, who previously worked in the press service of the Russian Ministry of Defense, and his colleague Denis Shchukin. The publication The Bell had previously reported on a possible connection between the founder of the Wagner Group, Yevgeny Prigozhin, and the funding of this project.
