On February 26, late in the evening, many residents of Kyrgyzstan noticed that the social network TikTok became accessible without the use of a VPN. Users reported this on their accounts.
Access to the platform was granted not only to residents of the capital Bishkek but also to people from other regions of the country.
Although there has been no official announcement regarding the lifting of the ban, discussions about the possibility of canceling the restrictions have already begun in the Jogorku Kenesh and the Ministry of Culture, Information, Sports, and Youth Policy.
It is worth noting that TikTok was blocked in the spring of 2024 at the request of the State Committee for National Security (GKNB), which justified its position by citing the dangers of the content for children and the need for control over the materials.
