In Bishkek, rain floods the subways and sidewalks. How the authorities are dealing with the flooding.

According to the information from the press service of the city hall, "Bishkekzelenstroy" is carrying out activities to eliminate flooding and is also engaged in cleaning stormwater grates during rainfalls.

Currently, the following work has been completed:

35 stormwater grates have been cleaned in the Pervomaysky district;
25 grates in the Lenin district;
20 grates in the Oktyabrsky district;
30 grates in the Sverdlovsky district.

Clogs in the stormwater system are mainly caused by household and construction waste that some citizens throw into ditches, wells, and channels. The accumulation of such waste complicates the drainage of rainwater, which can lead to flooding in certain areas of the city.
