Activist: Renovation Works Could Destroy the Historical Facade of the Physical Culture Academy in Bishkek
On February 25, activists in Bishkek noticed the beginning of the installation of a ventilated facade on the building of the Kyrgyz State Academy of Physical Culture and Sports named after B.T. Turusbekov. This was reported on social media by public figure Bermet Borubaeva.
According to her, this building is a monument of architecture of national significance, which raises justified doubts about the legality of the current works that may damage the historical facade. "We sent a request to the Ministry of Culture to find out whether these works have been coordinated with the Ministry of Culture of the Kyrgyz Republic. Insulation and other works on protected sites require detailed consideration and coordination with experts. During such installation works, it is necessary to comply with the law and preserve the cultural heritage of the Kyrgyz Republic," she noted.
Bermet Borubaeva also expressed concerns about compliance with legislation during these works and the possibility of preserving the historical appearance of the facade.
She reminded that in 1992 this institute was graduated by the President of the Kyrgyz Republic and expressed hope that the head of state would assist in this matter and ensure the preservation of historically significant objects.
