The public of Bishkek is concerned about the ongoing renovation work on the facade of the Kyrgyz State Institute of Physical Culture, which is a monument of architecture of national significance.

Local residents note that such changes could lead to the loss of the historical appearance of the building, raising doubts about the legality of the work being carried out.

According to local residents, they have sent a request to the Ministry of Culture asking whether these works have been approved and if permission has been obtained from the agency. Under current legislation, any changes, including insulation and installation on cultural heritage sites, require mandatory approval from relevant experts and the ministry.

There is also a direct legal provision that requires the preservation of the external appearance of buildings, which implies the necessity to consider the principles of cultural heritage protection in any interventions.

Furthermore, the residents of Bishkek emphasize that the President of the Kyrgyz Republic is an alumnus of this institute and hope that he will pay attention to the situation that has arisen to initiate an inspection and ensure the protection of this historical site.
